The Ultimate Valentine Cookies
Celebrate February 14 by baking valentine cookies for your sweetheart. This is an easy recipe for cookie lovers to show off their affection and creativity.
Ingredients:
Confectioners’ sugar | 1 cup |
Unsalted butter, softened | 1 cup or 2 sticks |
White vinegar | 1 Tbsp |
All purpose flour | 2¼ cups |
Ground ginger | 1½ tsp |
Baking powder | ¾ tsp |
Baking soda | ¼ tsp |
Salt | ¼ tsp |
Red food coloring |
Direction:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Sift flour, ground ginger, baking soda, salt together and set it aside.
- Cream softened butter with confectioners’ sugar and white vinegar using an electric mixer until well combined.
- Fold in the dry ingredients. Divide dough in half and mix red food color into one half. (If dough is too dry, add some water or milk, 1 teaspoon at a time.)
- Roll dough on a lightly floured surface, about 1/8 inch thick. Use cookie cutters or templates to cut into heart shapes of different designs.
Bake for about 5 minutes or until set but not brown. Allow your custom-made valentine cookies to cool on cookie sheet for 1 or 2 minutes before carefully transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
