Homemade Chocolate Desserts
Writing about chocolate desserts reminds me of a spelling trick I’ve learned as a kid.
Dessert is a sweet treat after a meal. It’s delicious and kids may want a second serving. Therefore, it is spelled with 2 “Ses.”
Desert, on the other hand, is not eatable and thus spelled with just 1 “S.”
I can’t also help thinking of rich rocky road brownies and flavorful rocky road chocolate chip cookies as popular chocolate desserts.
Ingredients for the brownies are:

| Unsalted butter | 6 Tbsp |
| Unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped | 2 oz. |
| Semisweet chocolate chips | ¼ cup |
| Granulated sugar | 2/3 cup |
| Eggs | 2 large |
| All purpose flour | ¾ cup |
| Salt | ½ tsp |
| Butterscotch chips | ½ cup |
| Pecans, chopped | ½ cup |
| Miniature marshmallows | 1¼ cups |
To turn this brownie recipe into one for chocolate chip cookies, you would need similar ingredients in different proportions.
| Unsalted butter, softened | 1 cup |
| Granulated sugar | ½ cup |
| Brown sugar, firmly packed | 1 cup |
| Eggs | 2 large |
| Vanilla extract | 1 Tbsp |
| All purpose flour | 2½ cups |
| Salt | ½ tsp |
| Baking soda | 1 tsp |
| Baking powder | 1 tsp |
| Mini chocolate chips | 1 cup |
| Butterscotch chips | 1 cup |
| Pecans, chopped | 1 cup |
| Miniature marshmallows | 1 cup |
