A Shortbread Recipe for
Cookie and Cream Cheese Lovers

This shortbread recipe produces soft, rich, and cakey shortbreads. It is certainly a big leap from the traditional texture.

ingredients for cream cheese shortbread

Unsalted butter, softened ½ cup
Cream cheese, softened8 oz.
Confectioners’ sugar1¼ cups
Vanilla extract1 tsp
Grated lemon or orange zest1 tsp
(optional)
All purpose flour2 cups


Preparing dough by following shortbread recipe

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease or line an 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.


  • Cream softened butter, cream cheese, and confectioners’ sugar together on medium high speed for about 3 minutes or until fluffy.


  • Mix in vanilla extract and citrus zest if used. Finally, fold in flour until dough just comes together. DO NOT over-mix.

  • Transfer dough to prepared baking pan. Bake for about 20 minutes or until edges are golden and start to pull away from side of pan.
