Bakery Acquisition News ......

As frequent customers of Arby's and Denny's located in many South-Eastern states of the United States, you may have enjoyed baked buns, focaccia, baguettes, even ciabatta that Euro-Bake produces and supplies to these restaurant chains.

This Florida-based bakery has recently been acquired by Lantmannen Unibake, a leading European bakery group. Lantmannen Unibake produces Danish pastry, croissants and a
variety of frozen bread products. A leader in the Scandinavian market, it also has established sale offices in many Asian countries such as Japan, Korea.

Perhaps in the near future and as a result of this acquisition, cookies will be on its production list. Just hope that its cookies will be half as good as your homemade ones.

To Start Up or To Purchase?

A gourmet cookie delivery business is a fitting scenario of cookies in motion. One would deliver cookies from a bakery to many retail stores, and earn a commission based on the quantity of cookies that these stores sell.

This low overhead business could be quite profitable. Its major operating expense is maintaining a delivery vehicle.

Building a route from scratch will take many samples of deliciously irresistible cookies, business cards, friendly smiles :-), and a persistent will to succeed. On the other hand, acquiring an existing route requires liquid capital, usually cash.

Regardless of whether to start up or to purchase, one needs to have exceptional customer service skill to establish and maintain good working relationship with bakeries and retail stores.

With that said, when capital is available, should one purchase an existing route or start the business from ground zero? Connect to the following link to share your thought.
